The Mayan "ball game" involved two teams using knees, elbows and hips to hit a solid rubber ball thru on of these stone goals about twelve to fifteen feet in the air. A team captain was sacrificed afterwards; some scholars believe that the winning captain was killed because he was the better sacrifice.
