Colour field painting
Parva XXIX. Anne Truitt (1921-2004) was a major American artist whose sculptures were significant to the development of Minimalism. Aggressively plain painted structures, often large, they were fabricated from wood painted with monochromatic layers of acrylic, to resemble sleek, rectangular columns. She applied multiple coats, alternating brushstrokes between horizontal vertical directions and sanding between layers to remove any trace of her brush.
