The Lancia D50 Formula 1 car. Innovative and beautiful, at least to our eyes. Featuring a 2.5 litre V8 engine with twin overhead cams per bank forming a stressed member of the chassis, a first in F1. Also, pannier fuel tanks between the front and rear wheels so that decreasing fuel load left the car's handling balance unaffected. Enabled an otherwise uncompetitive Ferrari to a constructors championship in 1956 when the cars were handed over to them by a financially-stressed Lancia.
