I use this idea constantly along with sky writing. The kids absolutely love it I just need to figure out a way go keep the sand on the tray.

Writing Center Activities: Sight word shells are a fun way for students to practice writing sight words, as well as forming letters properly. Students are to write the sight word printed on each shell in the sand using their finger.
