Domus Flavia,- (in red) Was the official residence of the emperors. It was completed in 92 AD in the reign of Titus Flavius Domitianus, more commonly known as the Emperor Domitian, and attributed to his master architect, Rabirius. His work was identified by a technique he used on details. It contained an Aula Regina (oval office), hall with lararium (shrine to household gods), a small basilica with an emperor's throne and a heated floor (hypocaust).

Ancient fast-food in Ostia. Probably the Romans were the first to invent “fast food” restaurants. In Pompeii, several places were discovered that offered quick food to residents. Such an ancient fast-food bar was called thermopolium (literally “a place where something warm is sold”) or opinae.Hot food containers were put into the openings. Every passerby could, of course, pay for some fast-food. Scientists suspect that gruel, fish stew and garum were served.
