The Decorated House :: French Linen Gray Painted Basket Tutorial, using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

~ French Linen Basket Makeover : How to with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

Basket Makeover Using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - French Linen Another way to store things in the kitchen is by using baskets. This is a very old solution that still works in today's kitchens as well. When choosing storage options for the kitchen, baskets are always tops on the list for many people. And for good reason, they not only add a nice hidden storage solution, but they can also bring in a touch of warmth, color and/or texture. Somewhere along the line, I had a "collection" of sorts of…

Brown baskets were dry brushed with AS French Linen Chalk Paint™ for that Belgian look

Bathroom Latest: baskets, vanity and fabrics

One of the hottest finishes lately has been the Belgian washes you see on furniture and baskets. Its a gray wash~I wanted to make all the baskets in my bathroom shelf look Belgian~ French Linen Chalk Paint® is what I used and a big paint brush. This is the latest color I was dying to try~ and it works well on these baskets I am happy to say. Don't load up the brush, apply it with a dry brush and it is the easiest thing in the world! I had all the baskets done in 15 minutes. Have you noticed…

French Baskets created with CHALK PAINT® in French Linen

I have been on a roll lately and trying really hard to keep up with the sales at my new "Patina" space. I found a set of 3 boring baskets at Goodwill not too long ago, they are even lined with plastic if you wanted to put flowers in. I mixed up a 1:1 ratio of Annie Sloan CHALK PAINT® French Linen (my favorite color) and water to thin it down so I could paint a wash onto the baskets. This is a great trick to "grey" vintage picnic baskets, too! Thanks to Debbie at 'Round the Coop and her…

Heaven's Walk: Vintage French Market Baskets--Chalk paint grey linen then white watered down over wicker. Use French address stencil on painter's cloth.

Vintage French Market Baskets

I love vintage French market baskets. Especially the tall ones. Don't know what it is about them, but the older and grayer and more weathered they are, the more they appeal to me. (Kind of like a distinguished older gent...you know?) But they're hard to find. (The baskets...not the gents.) So when I read about Rosemary's discovery of French-inspired rolling market baskets last summer at JoAnne Fabrics, I ordered two of them. One to keep and one to sell. (Yes, they've been sitting in my…

Few pieces of furniture are as timeless as well-made wicker. Wicker is a pliable type of wood, yet it stands up to the elements longer than most regular wooden pieces. Most types of wicker are painted at the factory they were produced in with either a colored paint or a clear varnish that brings out the wood colors. Removing this paint, and...

How to Remove Paint From Wicker | Hunker
