The Lotus lantern festival in Seoul, South Korea. This festival is actually a parade of paper lanterns that lights up the nights sky during Buddha's birthday weekend. It is a must see event if you happen to be in SoKo at the time.

Cherry blossoms! What a wonderful treat to see these beautiful trees in bloom. They bloom once a year in SoKo and they have a very short lifespan. (2-3 weeks tops) They can bloom in different areas of Korea at different times depending on the weather. No need to go to a festival! The best viewing places are on long quiet walks in mountain valleys!

Namdaemun, officially known as the Sungnyemun (literally Gate of Exalted Ceremonies), is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which surrounded the city in the Joseon Dynasty. The gate is located in Jung-gu between Seoul Station and Seoul City Plaza, with the historic 24-hour Namdaemun market is next to the gate. We were really lucky to catch the grand opening after being shut down to the public since 2008. It just reopen fully restored and beautiful!
