Between 2012 and 2020, I photographed several hundred places of worship across Europe. Over time, these places became enveloped in silence. The only thing heard there now is an occasional gust of wind whistling through broken stained glass or the rhythmic drip of water leaking through the dilapidated roof above a nave.

This cloister is on the same quadrangle as the post from 2 days ago but it didn't appear until 1964 when the one open side of the quad was finally closed by the construction of the College library. There is quite the contrast between the two cloisters but I think they each work aesthetically!

This scene is based on the famous cloister from gloucester's cathedral (which can be seen in the Harry Potter's movies, among others). The cloister of Chiesa di San Francesco compliments the unusual mix of architectural styles. The cloister is a marvelous atmospheric mix of many architectural styles, from the pagan era to the Middle Ages, and is a delightfully peaceful place to visit.
