Mammoth ivory Iris petal and butterfly netsuke by Natasha Popova.   Stained with walnut dye, silver nitrate and burning needle. Two dew-drops carved from acryl glass (front and reverse sides). Beetle on reverse carved from stained mammoth ivory and dark-brown shell.  Signature on the reverse side covered with 23k gold leaf and the second dew-drop.  January 2007. A well carved ivory netsuke of a mokugyo, by Gyokushû. Late 19th century. The handle in the shape of two dragons holding a pearl in their mouths, their scaly bodies rendered as a decorative pattern. Signed Gyokushû. En suite a miniature version of the netsuke as ojime with a spurious signature reading Gyokushû but written with a different second character. Figurine
