This effigy comb is in the form of a sand piper, which represents one of the nine Seneca clans. It was found with figurine 13-33 in a brass kettle eroding out of a bank at Ganandagan (Boughton Hill site) – the brass verdigris penetrated the porous antler surface, turning it green, and also helping to preserve it.
