During an uprising in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela in 1962 – an episode known as the Porteñazo – the ruling dictatorship violently suppressed the insurgents. This picture depicts Padre Luis Maria Padilla supporting a wounded soldier. As he administers the last rites, the soldier is shot again. The photograph, taken by Hector Rondon Lavera, won World Press Photograph of the Year in 1962. - My Dad has this picture in his study. It gives me goose bumps every time I see it.
