The Catholic Church teaches us that purgatory is a state of final purification before we enter heaven. In purgatory, we are forgiven of sins that we have not yet been forgiven for. After purgatory, one enters into heaven.
I have to say, the only place I see Catholics genuflecting anymore is at the Tridentine Mass (aka the Latin Mass, aka Mass in the Extraordinary Form). Do other Catholics even know how to genuflect anymore?
