HMS Implacable (R86) was an Implacable-class aircraft carrier built for the Royal Navy during World War II.
HMS Fame was converted into an escort destroyer while under repair and was assigned to escort duties in the North Atlantic in 1942. She sank two German submarines before she was transferred back to British coastal waters in May 1944 to protect the build-up for Operation Overlord.
HMS Hermes(95) the first purpose designed aircraft(although IJN Hosho was the first to be commissioned). Built by Armstrong Whitworth & commissioned 18/02/24. 10/39 assigned to Dakar to cooperate wth French Navy. 06/40 with creation of Vichy France blockaded Dakar & attempted to sink battleship Richlieu. 02/41 acted as support to allied forces in Italian Somaliland. Similar operations 04/41 in Persian gulf during Anglo-Iraqi war. Sunk by Jap Dive Bombers on 09/04/42 with loss of 307 men.
