Loughton preschool children were showing an interest in letter writing so an outing was organised to visit the post office. The local postman then visited to answer any questions and they also had the opportunity to look inside his van. The role play area was then turned into a post office and children are now exhanging letters with Spitalfields nursery
I made this mailbox for my 3-year old who loves playing "post office" at her preschool. I used a cardboard box for the base and then used masking tape to connect the top pieces of cardboard. I spray painted it and drew an eagle on the front and painted it. I had a round, wooden piece that I allowed my daughter to paint black and hot glued it on as a knob where she sticks her mail into the box. I cut out an opening in the back so she can retrieve the mail she sends.
